Town Council Meeting

January 19, 2021

Members Present: Mayor James Coachman, Michael Capehart, Angela Hackney, Garrett Lorton, Van Granger, and George Stringer

Members Absent:  

Mayor James Coachman opened the meeting at 6:00 P. M.  Mayor Coachman opened our meeting with a prayer.  Mayor Coachman and the Council led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Council Member Lorton made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from council meeting on December 15th and workshop on January 05th and except the minutes as presented.  There was a second by Council Member Capehart and the motion was approved unanimously.

Approval for the December financial reports were presented to the Council by the Town Clerk. Council Member Capehart made a motion to approve the reports as presented.  A second by Council Member Lorton and the motion was approved unanimously.

Jodie Solomon came to discuss the drain on Metcalf Street, repairs to driveway at 1211and to give an update on meeting with D.O.T about Houston Street and it want to be too long before construction starts.  The stripping on Metcalf Street will start in about 3 weeks.

Eli Cepero brought his house plans to show to the Council.

New Store coming to Cottonwood, Family Dollar Tree is purchasing the property where the firework stand is on Cottonwood Road.

Discussion on adding a streetlight at 96 Grove Street.  Alabama Power will be getting us a quote.

Discussion on purchasing a tractor, dump trailer, truck for the water department.

Colonel Smith presented the police reports for the month of December.  There was a total of 126 calls for service, 09 reports written, 0 medical assists, 26 traffic warnings issued, 15 traffic citations issued, 01 traffic warrant, 03 drug arrest, 0 felonies, 1 misdemeanor, 05 Arrests Made and 16 auxiliary hours.

Announcement on Town Clean up on February 6th at 8:00 meet at Town Hall.

Proclaim January Human trafficking awareness month.

There being no further business to come before this meeting, there was a motion by Council Member Hackney to adjourn the meeting.  A second by Council Member Stringer and the meeting was adjourned at 6:20 P.M.
