Town Council Meeting

August 18, 2020


Members Present: Mayor Ken Hamilton, James Coachman, Michael Capehart, Linda Smith, Ann Adams, and Kenneth Hart

Members Absent:  

Mayor Ken Hamilton opened the meeting at 6:00 P. M.  Council Member Coachman opened our meeting with a prayer. Mayor Hamilton and the Council led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Council Member Coachman made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from council meeting on July 21st and workshop on August 04th and except the minutes as presented.  There was a second by Council Member Adams and the motion was approved unanimously.

Approval for the July financial reports were presented to the Council by the Town Clerk. Council Member Coachman made a motion to approve the reports as presented.  A second by Council Member Adams and the motion was approved unanimously.

Mayor Hamilton presented the fire report for the month of July.  Total of 24 calls for the month of July.  Fire Department demonstrated putting some new equipment together and explained how it is used.

Colonel Smith presented the police reports for the month of July.  There were a total of 108 calls for service, 04 reports written, 0 medical assists, 21 traffic warnings issued, 11 traffic citations issued, 10 traffic warrant, 0 drug arrest, 0 felonies, 1 misdemeanor, 11 Arrests Made and 16 auxiliary hours.

James Whitehead gave the results of the Audit 2019.  All was good.  Everything is in order.

Debris pick up August 31.

Reminder to spread the word for all citizens to file their census.

Council Members completing about the City Cemetery not being cleaned.  They replied that the grass is tall. Has not been weeded in a while.  Something needs to be said to the persons doing the job that they need to step it up.

There being no further business to come before this meeting, there was a motion by Council Member Hart to adjourn the meeting.  A second by Council Coachman and the meeting was adjourned at 6:34 P.M.
