Members Present: Mayor Ken Hamilton, Michael Capehart, James Coachman, Linda Smith, Ann Adams, and Kenneth Hart  

 

Members Absent:

 

Mayor Hamilton opened the meeting at 6:00 P. M.   Mayor Hamilton open meeting with a prayer.  Mayor Hamilton and the Council led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

*Reported Cottonwood Ambulance & Rescue used 1,923 gallons of water for the month of June.

 

*We had some visitor’s the Town of Cottonwood Queens (Future Little Miss – Blakely Parrish) (Little Miss – Adeline Crowley) (Young Jr. Miss – Jessi Danford) (Junior Miss – Emmie Haywood) (Teen Miss – Gabby Richards) (Miss Cottonwood – Olivia Ethridge).  They presented a picture to the Town with Mayor and Queens.

 

*Discussion on debris limitation per house old.

 

*Approval on Resolution on Sewer Grant #2020-008. Assistance for $350,000.00with a match of $37,972.00.  Count Member Smith made a motion to approve resolution on sewer grant #2020-008.  A second by Council Member Coachman and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

*Discussion on Noise Ordinance. Move to next meeting.

 

*Discussion on EMS.

 

*Mayor discussed about Mrs Barbara Blakock at 12356 Cottonwood Road, wants to put a fence around her property & cut some tree’s and wants to put in a new driveway and will replace the curbing.  Driveway must be 30 feet from stop sign.  

 

*Approval on Resolution #2020-007 on Care Act for supplement pay due to Covid-19.  Council Member Capehart made a motion to approve Resolution #2020-007 on Care Act if the Town gets reimbursement.  A second by Council Member Adams and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

*Approval to purchase new Body Armor for the police department $1,834.00 and hopefully will be reimbursed from the Care Act.  Council Member Coachman made a motion to approve to purchase new Body Armer for the police department for $1,834.00.  A second by Council Member Capehart and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

*Approval to purchase drive-thru Awning 14X24 for the Senior Center building and hopefully will reimbursed from the Care Act. Council Member Smith made a motion to purchase drive-thru Awning 14X24 for the Senior Center building.  A second by Council Member Adams and the motion was approved unanimously.

Mayor wanted to remind everyone that “Notice is hereby given on Tuesday August 25, 2020 an election for the purpose of electing a Mayor and Town Council Members for Districts one through five, and the other officers as pursuant to duly enacted law or ordinance, or any or all of the officers, are to be elected at the election for the Town of Cottonwood, Alabama will be held and that all registered and qualified electors of the state, who reside within the corporate limits of Cottonwood, Alabama, and have resided therein for 30 days or more immediately preceding the date of the election, and who are qualified to vote in the county precinct which embraces and covers that part of the corporate limits of the town in which the elector resides, will be authorized to participate in the election.”

 

*Mayor wanted to remind everyone to file out there censes.

 

*Mayor announced he would not be running in upcoming election.

 

There being no further business to come before this meeting, there was a motion by Council Member Adams to adjourn the meeting.  A second by Council Member Smith and the meeting was adjourned at 7:00 P.M.
