Town Council Meeting

July 21, 2020


Members Present: Mayor Ken Hamilton, James Coachman, Michael Capehart, Linda Smith, Ann Adams, and Kenneth Hart

    

Members Absent:  

 

Mayor Ken Hamilton opened the meeting at 6:00 P. M.  Council Member Smith opened our meeting with a prayer. Mayor Hamilton and the Council led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Council Member Coachman made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from council meeting on June 16th and workshop on July 07th and except the minutes as presented.  There was a second by Council Member Smith and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Approval for the June financial reports were presented to the Council by the Town Clerk. Council Member Adams made a motion to approve the reports as presented.  A second by Council Member Capehart and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Mayor Hamilton presented the fire report for the month of June.  Total of 05 calls for the month of June. 

 

Colonel Smith presented the police reports for the month of June.  There were a total of 114 calls for service, 14 reports written, 0 medical assists, 12 traffic warnings issued, 08 traffic citations issued, 3 traffic warrant, 1 drug arrest, 0 felonies, 1 misdemeanor, 14 Arrests Made and 14 auxiliary hours.

 

UPDATE on Cottonwood Ambulance and Rescue Rickey Stokes call the mayor and they are not closing.

 

Mayor asking for approval to seek a motion to have our town attorney to oversee the Clean City Ordinance / Health Codes and Safety Codes.  Council Coachman made a motion to approve to have our town attorney to oversee the Clean City Ordinance / Health Codes and Safety Codes.   A second by Council Member Smith and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

William & Kimberly Paulk seeking approval for new mobile home to be moved in at 1089 Metcalf Street and approval for temporary housing for a couple of months until they move New mobile home in.  Council Member Capehart made a motion to approve for new mobile home to be moved in at 1089 Metcalf Street and approval for temporary housing for a couple of months until they move New mobile home in.  A second by Council Member Hart and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Discussion on Kelly Park on returning it to the owners.

 

Discussion on selling property on # 46715 on Cottonwood Road & Metcalf Street for property value of $8,000.00. The Town has a total of $13,200.00 in this property.

 

*Discussion on Troy Cable.

*Discussion on paving Houston Street. (Mayor replied DOT get ready for the bid process)

*Discussion on paving Metcalf Street.

*Discussion on grocery store.

*Debris pick up on Monday July 27th.

 

There being no further business to come before this meeting, there was a motion by Council Member Adams to adjourn the meeting.  A second by Council Coachman and the meeting was adjourned at 6:44 P.M.
