Town Council Meeting

June 15, 2020


Members Present: Mayor Ken Hamilton, James Coachman, Michael Capehart, Linda Smith, Ann Adams, and Kenneth Hart

Members Absent:  

Mayor Ken Hamilton opened the meeting at 6:00 P. M.  Council Member Coachman opened our meeting with a prayer. Mayor Hamilton and the Council led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Council Member Smith made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from council meeting on May 19th and workshop on June 02nd and except the minutes as presented.  There was a second by Council Member Adams and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Approval for the May financial reports were presented to the Council by the Town Clerk. Council Member Coachman made a motion to approve the reports as presented.  A second by Council Member Capehart and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Mayor Hamilton presented the fire report for the month of May.  Total of 09 calls for the month of May. 

 

Colonel Smith presented the police reports for the month of May.  There were a total of 122 calls for service, 05 reports written, 0 medical assists, 13 traffic warnings issued, 06 traffic citations issued, 3 traffic warrant, 0 drug arrest, 0 felonies, 0 misdemeanor, 0 Arrests Made and 12 auxiliary hours.

 

Approval to purchase a set of tires from A-One for $641.92.  Council Member Coachman made a motion to approve the purchase for a set of tires from A-One for $641.92.  A second by Council Member Capehart and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Approval Resolution # 2020-004 Engineering Service.  Council Member Smith made a motion to approve Resolution #2020-004 Engineering Service.  A second by Council Member Hart and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Approval for Resolution #2020-005 Electronic Vote Counting Devices.  Council Member Hart made a motion to except Resolution # 2020-004 Electronic Vote Counting Devices.  A second by Council Member Adams and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Discussion on A/C for Fire Department from Woodall’s for $3,400.00.  After discussion Council Member Adams made a motion to approve the purchase for A/C from Woodall’s for $3,400.00.  A second by Council Member Smith and motion was approved unanimously.

 

*Mayor wanted to thank Little George Stringer for attending our meeting.

*Paving on Houston Street should star in July.

*Paving Metcalf will be next project

*Troy cable meeting today with Alabama Power.

*Discussion on Doctor Building is in progress.

*Wow is running new lines.

*Council Member Capehart wanted to let the police know they are doing a good job.

*Stacy McCardle signed the contract for the Grocery Store yesterday.  

 

Debris pick up on Monday June 29th.

There being no further business to come before this meeting, there was a motion by Council Member Coachman to adjourn the meeting.  A second by Council Hart and the meeting was adjourned at 6:45 P.M.
