Town Council Meeting
August 21, 2018
 

 

Members Present: Mayor Ken Hamilton, Michael Capehart, James Coachman, Ann Adams, Linda Smith and Kenneth Hart

 

Members Absent:

 

Mayor Ken Hamilton opened the meeting at 6:00 P. M.  Council Member Smith opened our meeting with a prayer.  Mayor Hamilton and the Council led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Council Adams made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from Council Meeting, July 17th and workshop, August 07th and approved them as presented.  There was a second by Council Member Smith and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Approval to waive the July financial reports were presented to the Council by the Town Clerk. Council Member Coachman made a motion to approve the reports as presented.  A second by Council Member Smith and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Mayor Hamilton presented the monthly fire report for July.  The fire department responded to 11 calls of service in the month of July. There was an estimated 1,000 gallons of water that was used.

 

Colonel Smith presented the police report for the month of July.  Colonel Smith reported there were 200 calls for service, 10 reports written, 0 medical assists, 51 traffic warnings issued, 11 traffic citations issued,  1 traffic warrants, 1 drug arrests, 0 felonies, 1 misdemeanors and 18 auxiliary hours.

 

Pictures will be taken on Sept. 4 next Council Meeting to update website.

 

Discussion a reimbursement program for the Fire Department.  Rules for the program.  There will be a 15 person roster, members will have to make 50% of the meeting per quarter.  Persons will be paid $20.00 a call once a quarter.  James Whitehead spoke about program.  This program is not taxable. Moved to next meeting on Sept 4th.

 

Discussion on Trailer moved in on Cottonwood Road.

Discussion about pole for Kelly Park.

 

There being no further business to come before this meeting, there was a motion by Council Member Hart to adjourn the meeting.  A second by Council Member Capehart and the meeting was adjourned at 6:40 P.M.
