Town Council Meeting
July 17, 2018
 

Members Present: Mayor Ken Hamilton, James Coachman, Ann Adams, Linda Smith and Kenneth Hart

    

Members Absent: Michael Capehart

 

Mayor Ken Hamilton opened the meeting at 6:00 P. M.  Council Member Smith opened our meeting with a prayer.  Mayor Hamilton and the Council led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Council Smith made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from Council Meeting, June 19th and workshop, July 05th and approved them as presented.  There was a second by Council Member Coachman and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Approval to waive the June financial reports were presented to the Council by the Town Clerk. Council Member Adams made a motion to approve the reports as presented.  A second by Council Member Smith and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Mayor Hamilton presented the monthly fire report for June.  The fire department responded to 09 calls of service in the month of June. There was an estimated 21,600 gallons of water that was used.

 

Colonel Smith presented the police report for the month of April.  Colonel Smith reported there were 223 calls for service, 12 reports written, 0 medical assists, 44 traffic warnings issued, 34 traffic citations issued, 0 arrests made, 2 traffic warrants, 2 drug arrests, 1 felonies, 3 misdemeanors and 16 auxiliary hours.

 

Discussion on CDBG Grant to repave Metcalf Street or Dryas Road.

Over lay Metcalf & Dryas $359,131.25 – Grant $250,000.00 – Match $185,736.25

Over lay Metcalf $252,152.50 – Grant $250,000.00 – Match $24,000.50

Over lay Dyras 187,928.75 – Grant $250,000.00 – Match $18,000.00

Total re do paving Metcalf $350,000.00 – Grant $250,000.00 – Match $100,000.00

Total re do paving Dryas $279,272.00 – Grant $250,000.00 – Match $29,272.00

After discussion Council Member Smith made a motion to except repaving Dryas Road on the total re do paving $279,272.00 – Grant $250,000.00 – Match $29,272.00.  And on the next grant Council Member Smith ask to earmark Metcalf Street for paving on a later date. And the motion was approved with 4 Yes and 1 Nay.

There being no further business to come before this meeting, there was a motion by Council Member Hart to adjourn the meeting.  A second by Council Member Coachman and the meeting was adjourned at 6:50 P.M.
