Town Council Meeting

Members Present:   Mayor Ken Hamilton, James Coachman, Michael Capehart, Ann Adams, Linda Smith and Kenneth Hart

Mayor Hamilton opened the meeting at 6:00 P. M.  Mayor Hamilton led our opening with a prayer.  Mayor Hamilton and the Council led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Council Member Coachman made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from Council Meeting, June 20th and July 06th and approved them as presented.  There was a second by Council Member Capehart and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

June financial reports were presented to the Council by the Town Clerk. Council Member Coachman made a motion to approve the reports as presented.  A second by Council Member Capehart and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Fire Chief Randy Hall presented the monthly fire report.  The fire department responded to 4 calls of service in the month of June. There was an estimated 19,000 gallons of water that was used.      

 

Chief Money presented the police report for the month for June.  There were 95 calls for service, 07 reports written, 0 medical assists, 20 traffic warnings issued, 0 traffic citations issued, 3 arrests made, 02 traffic warrants, 0 drug arrests, 0 felonies, 1 misdemeanors and 8 auxiliary hours.

 

Captain Penny Quattlebaum presented the monthly Ambulance & Rescue report for June.  The Ambulance & Rescue responded to 37 calls of service in the month of June. There were 24 medical calls, 10 Non-transports, 1 wreck, 1 structure fire, 1 missed call.  Discussion on CPR classes.

 

Discussion on retiree’s one time lump sum payment.  Council Member Adams made a motion to adopt Resolution #2017-006 of Act 2017-367 one time lump sum payment of $1,720.00.  A second by Council Member Hart and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Discussion on cleaning out ditch on the north end of Dryas road on left side.

 

Discussion on Jacob Wozow one of the Volunteer Fire fighters getting 2nd degree burns at the fire at Paul Strange, home that was struck by lightning July 13.

 

There being no further business to come before this meeting, there was a motion by Council Member Hart to adjourn the meeting.  A second by Council Member Smith and the meeting was adjourned at 6:24 P.M.
