Town Council Meeting

Members Present:   Mayor Pro-Tem James Coachman, Michael Capehart, Ann Adams, Linda Smith and Kenneth Hart

    

Members Absent: Mayor Ken Hamilton

 

Mayor Pro-Tem Coachman opened the meeting at 6:00 P. M.  Council Member Smith led our opening with a prayer.  Mayor Pro-Tem Coachman and the Council led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Captain Bill Rafferty and Roy Woodham attended our council meeting to explain about the lease agreement between the Town and Houston County.  After discussion about the space on the water tower for the radio antenna.  Council Member Hart made a motion to approve the lease agreement on the space for the radio antenna.  A second by Council Member Capehart and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Council Member Capehart made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from Council Meeting, April 18th and the Special called meeting, April 20th  and workshop meeting, May 02th and approved them as presented.  There was a second by Council Member Smith and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

April financial reports were presented to the Council by the Town Clerk. Council Member Capehart made a motion to approve the reports as presented.  A second by Council Member Adams and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Paul Hughes presented the monthly fire report.  The fire department responded to 7 calls of service in the month of April. There was an estimated 5,000 gallons of water that was used.      

 

The Town Clerk presented the police report for the month for April.  There were 110 calls for service, 04 reports written, 0 medical assists, 19 traffic warnings issued, 05 traffic citations issued, 1 arrests made, 01 traffic warrants, 0 drug arrests, 2 felonies, 1 misdemeanors and 0 auxiliary hours.

 

Approval for Resolution #2017-004 on the Ad Valorem Property Tax. Council Member Smith made a motion to approve resolution #2017-004.  A second by Council Member Capehart and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Approval to purchase the rock from North Florida Rock/Transport at $22.50 ton for a total of $1,215.00 for Butler Street.  Council Member Capehart made a motion to purchase the rock from North Florida Rock/Transport at $22.50 a ton for a total of $1,215.00 for Butler Street. A second by Council Member Adams and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Houston County Sanitation will be picking up debris on May the 30th.

 

The Water department, tractor gear shift is broken.  Wiregrass International picked up the tractor for repair.

  

 

James Whitehead spoke to the Council about the police department being over budget on audit 2016.

 

There being no further business to come before this meeting, there was a motion by Council Member Hart to adjourn the meeting.  A second by Council Member Adams and the meeting was adjourned at 6:39 P.M.
