Town Council Meeting

Members Present:   Mayor Ken Hamilton, Michael Capehart, James Earl Coachman, Ann Adams, Linda Smith and Kenneth Hart

    

Members Absent:

 

Mayor Hamilton opened the meeting at 6:00 P. M.  Council Member Smith led our opening with a prayer.  Mayor Hamilton and the Council led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Council Member Capehart made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes from Council Meeting February 21th and workshop on March 07th to approve them as presented.  There was a second by Council Member Adams and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

February financial reports were presented to the Council by the Town Clerk.  Council Member Smith made a motion to approve the reports as presented.  A second by Council Member Coachman and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

The Fire report and the police report will be moved to next meeting.  The fire department had an emergency run.     

 

Approval for a new computer for the court system for the amount $1,149.99 + labor.  Council Member Capehart made a motion to approve to purchase a new computer for the court system for the amount of $1,149.99 + labor.  A second by Council Member Smith and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Approval to appoint the Town’s Judge as Gary Maxwell.  There was a discussion.  Council Member Hart made a motion to appoint the Town’s judge as Gary Maxwell.  A second by Council Member Adams and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

The Town’s new water system is finally working.  All the kinks have been worked out.  We are ready to start on line payment for the water bill.  There was a discussion.  Council Member Adams made a motion to start the on line payments on the water bills.  A second by Council Member Capehart and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Approval for Town Clerk to attend Municipal Clerks Program in August 2017.  Council Member Capehart made a motion to approve for Town Clerk to attend Municipal Clerks Program in August 2017.  A second by Council Member Adams and the motion was approved unanimously.

 

Discussion on selling the tin from the old day care building to Penny Quattlebaum for $50.00 and the remove will be her responsibility.   

 

 

 

Discussion on the fire hydrant testing report.

 

Reminder that State of Alabama 2016 Statement of Economic Interests forms due May 01, 2017.

 

There being no further business to come before this meeting, there was a motion by Council Member Coachman made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  A second by Council Member Adams and the meeting was adjourned at 6:27 P.M.
